Los Angeles, CA – (November 11, 2009) – World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation (World Wide) (formerly OTCBB:WWMO) has announced that in response to continued demand from fans around the world, it will re-release AMY, an award-winning Australian feature film starring Golden Globe-winner Rachel Griffiths, on Tuesday, January 26th, 2010.
Initially released theatrically in the US by World Wide in 2001 and on DVD in 2005, AMY is the poignant drama of a young girl (played by Alana De Roma) who was so traumatized by the tragic death of her rock-star father that she retreated into a world of silence. Ultimately through the efforts of her dedicated mother (Griffiths) and a young drop-out musician (played by Ben Mendelsohn) who lives next door, Amy breaks out of her self-imposed isolation by communicating through music and transforms the lives of those around her. Renowned film critic Roger Ebert called it “An enchanting, almost fantastical story.”
Griffiths currently stars in ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” for which she has received four Emmy nominations. Previously, she was best known for her 2002-05 role as Brenda Chenowith on HBO’s “Six Feet Under,” and was Oscar-nominated for her performance as Hilary in the 1998 film, Hilary & Jackie. Mendelsohn is an Australian Film Institute Award winner who rose to prominence as a child-actor on television He currently stars in the Australian TV drama, “Tangled.” Mendelsohn has been recognized for his work as a lead actor in numerous Australian films and was seen by US audiences in Australia and Knowing. In 2009, Griffiths and Mendelsohn reunited to star in the Australian film, Beautiful Kate, which was directed by Rachel Ward. AMY is the feature film debut of the talented De Roma, who provides a vivid performance.
The winner of 21 international film festival awards, AMY received the Cannes Film Festival’s Grand Prix de la Jeunesse as well as Best Film honors at the Public Festival du Film in Paris; the Pacific Film Festival in Hong Kong, the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy; the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis; the Leon, France International Film Festival; the Carrousel International Film Festival in Canada; and the Australian People’s Choice Awards, among many other prizes.

The engaging soundtrack includes tracks from Lamb, Ed Kuepper, Neneh Cherry, Donovan and a score by Philip Judd. The soundtrack also features the single “By Your Side (Mr. Popular)” by Australian rocker Nick Barker (who plays a supporting role in the film) and “You & Me,” a duet by Barker and Alana De Roma.
AMY, which was the number one art house film in Japan and France, is a Cascade Films Production that was written by David Parker and was directed by Nadia Tass.
