Los Angeles, CA, December 02, 2014 –(PR.com)– World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation (formerly OTCBB: WWMO) announced today that it has acquired exclusive distribution rights for the heartwarming film, The Lovely Patient, and has planned the DVD and digital release on Tuesday, January 20, to US audiences. The poignant film centers around a young man named Leonard who, while desperately searching for a job, must care for his mother who has suffered a stroke. Leonard finds work as an assistant for an older man who is battling breast cancer, and who needs a driver to take him to his daughter’s wedding.
The Lovely Patient features a talented cast, which brings to life interesting and often quirky characters that discover the importance of family and community. The film stars John Collier (42, The Three Stooges, Big Fish) as Frank, a man diagnosed with breast cancer, Joseph L. Glenn, Jimmie Ann Campbell, Shannon Krieger, and A.J. Sexton (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay).
“My motivation was to tell a story about cancer, about love, about forgiveness, and about redemption. I wanted to have all that wrapped into one [film], but I didn’t want to tell the story on a level where people are dying all around,” the film’s writer/director Sylvester K. Folks (Roommates) shared with AL.com. “I wanted to tell the [story of the] another side of the cancer battle where people are just fighting every day.”
The movie brings to light that an estimated 2,360 new cases of invasive male breast cancer will be diagnosed this year in the United States, compared to 232,670 in females, as reported by the American Cancer Society. The lifetime risk of males getting breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000, and this rate has not changed in the last three decades.
“Male breast cancer is not as well known, acknowledged or funded as research for female breast cancer is; however, it is just as devastating and deadly. We’re happy to be spotlighting this rarely talked about the disease by bringing this important story to US audiences next year,” states Paul D. Hancock, World Wide’s president and CEO. “As with our last theatrical release – Ways To Live Forever, about two boys fighting leukemia – the company is teaming up with a number of health organizations, hospitals, and cancer foundations throughout the country to promote the film and expand its scope of awareness.”
