Los Angeles, CA, October 23, 2013 –(PR.com)– World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation (World Wide) is pleased to announce its association with the University of Colorado Cancer Center (CU Cancer Center), in a campaign designed to raise awareness of pediatric cancers via World Wide’s national release of the award-winning feature film, Ways To Live Forever (www.waystoliveforevermovie.com). CU Cancer Center is spreading the word about the movie, which has been gaining enthusiastic audience response across the US and will continue its theatrical run with more openings on October 18. The release broadens to additional cities, including Metro Denver, on December 6. Based on the popular children’s novel by British author Sally Nicholls, a spunky 12-year-old leukemia patient named Sam and his best friend Felix set out to achieve their dreams and in the process learn to appreciate family, friends, and the oddities of life, leaving viewers both uplifted and inspired. A portion of the box office proceeds will benefit the CU Cancer Center, as well as other prestigious cancer-related organizations and foundations.
“The genomic revolution has allowed researchers to identify more and more driver genes in childhood cancer,” said Dan Theodorescu, MD, Ph.D., CU Cancer Center Director. “Our investigators are working tirelessly to both contribute and use this knowledge to improve treatments for children with cancer. In our survivorship program, we follow these kids into adulthood because we want to know the impact of both new and classical treatments on their long-term quality of life. We are happy to do anything we can to raise awareness of pediatric cancers.”
Ways To Live Forever stars critically acclaimed actors Ben Chaplin (The Thin Red Line, The Truth About Cats & Dogs), Greta Scacchi (The Player, Emma), Robbie Kay (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and currently ABC’s popular adventure drama, “Once Upon a Time”), Alex Etel (The Water Horse), Emilia Fox (Pride And Prejudice), and Ella Purnell (Kick-Ass 2, Intruders). The growing list of international awards includes Best Feature Film from the European Children’s Film Association, Best Picture at the Bordeaux International Festival of Women in Cinema, the Audience Award at the Heartland Film Festival, and the Adult Jury Prize at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival. Nationally-renowned book publisher Scholastic has issued Nicholls’ best-selling novel as an enhanced eBook and is re-releasing the paperback version to coincide with the North American release of the film.
“We’re very proud to be working with the entire University of Colorado family, and especially the CU Cancer Center,” states Paul Hancock, President and CEO of World Wide. “We hope that through our mutual efforts, a motion picture like Ways To Live Forever can help raise awareness for pediatric blood cancers, and ultimately increase funding for life-saving research and personalized care.”
