LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation (formerly OTCBB:WWMO) has acquired exclusive North American distribution rights to the award-winning feature, Applause, [www.applausemovie.com] from Koncern Film of Denmark. Directed by Martin Pieter Zandvliet and starring Danish-American actress Paprika Steen in an internationally acclaimed performance, Applause will open exclusive, Oscar-qualifying runs in New York and Los Angeles on December 3 prior to a wider national release.

Showcased at numerous film festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival, the London International Film Festival, and the Hamptons International Film Festival, Applause has won recognition for Steen’s bravura performance as a recovering alcoholic stage actress whose struggle to reclaim her role as a mother is complicated by the demons from her past. World Wide plans to mount an Oscar campaign for the film and Steen’s performance, with Steen scheduled to make extensive personal appearances in connection with the New York and Los Angeles openings.

“Our ability to work with Paprika Steen, who is so well known from film and stage in Europe, presents an exciting opportunity for World Wide to promote and brand Applause in the US,” states company President/CEO Paul D. Hancock.

Widely recognized as one of Scandinavia’s foremost actors, Steen has offered tour-de-force performances in such major European films as Adam’s Apples and The Celebration.

Applause marks a significant step in World Wide’s evolution, launching the company’s new strategy of distributing high-profile foreign language films as a potentially lucrative niche market for North America. “We’re hoping to step into the gap created by the departure of such specialty distributors as Warner Independent and Paramount Vantage and fulfill the increasing demand among discriminating audiences for challenging and entertaining foreign language and independent films,” Hancock offers.

Founded in 1977, World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation is a diversified company with shareholders throughout the world, primarily involved in the development, financing, production and distribution of feature films, documentaries, short subjects, industrials and television productions. World Wide’s industry executives and board members have produced, distributed and consulted on a wide variety of film and television projects, earning Academy awards, Emmy awards and prizes from world film festivals.
